Fulbrighters' Achievements - Madalena Costa

Madalena Costa received one of the top scores of the “Challenge from PhysioNet and Computers in Cardiology 2002” hosted by PhysioNet in cooperation with the annual Computers in Cardiology conference, which took place in September 2002, in Memphis. These challenges invite participants to tackle clinically interesting problems that are either unsolved or not well-solved.

Together with A.L. Goldberg and C.-K. Peng, Madalena Costa responded to the challenge with her work on “Multiscale Entropy to Distinguish Physiologic and Synthetic RR Time Series”.

Madalena (in the photo w/ Hugo Arsénio, son of another Fulbrighter in Boston) holds a MSc in Biomedical Engineering (1998), from the Institute of Biophysics of the University of Lisbon´s School of Sciences. She was awarded a Fulbright / FLAD Student Research Abroad in 2000/2001, to do research at Harvard Medical School, in Boston, where she currently continues to work towards her PhD thesis.

Congratulations, Madalena!
